I joined this wiki because: Father Barnabas introduced himself to me when he heard me and my then-fiance, a German resident of Wuerzburg, talking together in English outside Mariannhill following the mid-night mass for Christmas Eve in 1968. After that time, the then-Brother Stephan and I became close friends, a relationship I am sorry to say I inadvertently ended when I moved without notifying the dear friend who had most joyfully written to say had been ordained a priest as "Barnabas", in honor of the first true missionary. The best word to describe me is: outgoing Interests: mathematics, history of religion, history of other countries and of our native American Indians, all music of any kind and from any country especially classical and hymns and what is now "classic rock" and Native American and Japanese flute music. I have many, many interests but the above occupy most of the attention I have not already devoted to my loving wife of almost thirty years. Father Barnabas may remember all too well how deeply I could love, when I begged him to help me heal a breach in my relationship with Ilana. The relationship could not survive my necessary return to the United States to care for my mother - that ended when Ilana met someone whom she could be with in person and not absently through letters. In retrospect I have met someone whom Ilana would have loved immediately. Ilana hated the fact that Americans allowed themselves to get so deeply in debt. My lovely wife Cheryl hates debt and uses credit cards rarely, always paying them off before the debts are even due on the monthly due date. Favorite movies: starring actors Anthony Hopkins, Clint Eastwood, and Keanu Reeves and actresses Julia Roberts, Jena Malone, Katherine Hepburn, and Reese Witherspoon. Favorite TV shows: Boston Legal (now ended), NUMB3RS, and The Mentalist My hero(es): Carl Friedrich Gauss, Leonard Euler, Gottfried Wilhem Leibniz, Newton, and Georg Cantor My superpower is: ask Father Barnabas - I could not accept the over-whelmingly generous offer he made me of the Gutenberg Bible he wished to give me in a moment of true friendship, which I returned in friendship by asking him always to keep in his family as a treasured heirloom.
