"I had many assistants at Emery. I always hate to call these guys assistants. They were really more like assistant Chaplains. If his MOS was 71 M, it was probably Mike George. I also had a Jewish assistant, Alan Buxbaum, and then there were a whole slew of guys that helped me. Mike Tshudy (sp), one of twenty kids. And, then there was Dan Brake and all the guys at the Coffee House. It was quite a time and the commander was a guy named Bobbie Watts and after him, came a Col Smith, who was less tolerant of us. Wow, what a time. I keep encouraging Dan to let's get some of this published. A unique time and God used lots of guys to plant seeds. And, there were he funny incidents. One of the Assistants, can't remember which, stop the jeep in front of 6/52 headquaters and left it running. I came by and jumped in and hid the jeep. Talk about somebody coming "ape" when he came out and the jeep was gone. I think it was Buxbaum, the Jewish assistant. The commander was always after me to shape him up. He looked like he slept in his uniform, always needed a shave. A great guy and had a wife who was very talented. She was a lady of "girth" and it was kind of funny to see them. Many stories. But in 1978 I meet the Lord and I gave my life to Him. I remember while I was stationed at Emery the Chaplin's assistant help me many times but I did not like him and what he stood for at the time. I just want to thank him for loving me even thou I hated him and his God...I just want to apologize now, and thank him, for being Christ like to me at that time.
