Cliff! The medical care for the US Army troops in Bavaria is already in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), in the Universty Clinic of Wuerzburg and in the Medical Mission Clinic in Wuerzburg, where I work. Soon I know what the disposition of the hospital and its grounds will be, I will let you know.God bless you. Barnabas 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Barnabas, thanks for the update! I was last in Wuerzburg in January 1999. Emery Kaserne, which I visited by peering through the fences was being used as a center for refugees. They wouldn't let me onto the kaserne but many of the remnants of US Army life were still in existence, ie. building numbers and unit identification numbers on doors. Leighton Barracks had a new large Post Exchange (PX), that had been constructed in the middle of the old runway, just east of the old PX. Lots of other changes in Wuerzburg since the early to middle 1970's when most of us were there. I have a good friend that lives in Veitshochheim. If I ever get back to Wuerzburg I'll look you up!!

Hello Barnabas! Do you mean that Emery Kaserne has been closed as a refugee center? What is it being used for now? If I recall correctly, Faulenberg was going through a major redevelopment project - is that correct? Will there be any US Army presence left in Wuerzburg? I know that I am interested in any thoughts and news that you would share with us concerning the places that we all knew way back when!

Barnabas,I worked in this hospital late 60s early 70s. I in fact put up the flag every morning as part of my job. It was an interesting experience without a doubt. I do know a lot of us there were your basic lost souls tossed on the sea of life and reflecting the times we lived in. Do you find this valuable? |
